An Adventure Beyond The Two Rivers

So we made an expedition last night. Scary Jane, The Islhoff, and yours truly, Mr. Crow, we went exploring! First over the River Tawe, and then over the River Neath! 'There be monsters', according to Swansea legends.

The purpose of this adventure into the dark wilds of Neath-Port Talbot? To lend some support to, and enjoy the prodigious talents of, our friends John Davies, Carly Tucker-Williams, and Paul Edwards,as they performed at The Hybrid Café's songwriters night.

We were not disappointed.....

John's set of finely crafted songs delivered with a fine, subtle vocal style, and intricate guitar and guitar/bouzouki skills enthralled us, Carly's beautiful voice and gentle dexterity on guitar entranced us, and Paul with his customary gusto entertained us with some truly great songs! There were other artists there too. All of whom contributed to a fine and highly enjoyable evening, and all of whom will have to accept my apologies for not mentioning by name. My brain, addled by advancing years and a terribly mis-spent youth has considerable trouble remembering peoples monikers nowadays....

A special mention goes to the delightful lady who runs Hybrid Arts Cafe, who's name is also now lost in the rapidly decomposing mass of Alcoholic Sponge-form Encephalitis (ASE) or as it it more commonly know, Mad Crow Disease, that passes nowadays as the seat of my cognitive functions. But, I am reliably informed by Scary Jane it is, "Pauline...... I think, though she responds to Hybrid Cafe...... Or it might be Pamela........ but Islywn thinks it is Pauline!"

She set up Hybrid Arts Cafe off her own back, with no Arts Council Funding, no financial backup or help of any kind to promote the Arts & Music in Neath, That is a exceptionally brave and

commendable thing to do, and we wish her all success.

She is also the owner of two of the darkest, sparkiest, laughter filled eyes I have seen in many-a-year!

P.S. I am now far more reliably informed by Paul Edwards, that the lovely proprietor of the Hybrid Arts Cafe

is in fact named Paula!
