Wash Out

The Orignal Music Club, Pontadawe

Mr. Crow dips another digestive in his tea.

"Wonder if there will be beer at The Original Music Club this Friday?"

"I am sure John knows you need beer to sing"

"It helps me remember the words." Mr Crow protests

"I'm sure it does," says John, "especially as we are planning to do a few of the newer and less heard songs this coming Friday."

The Orginal Music Club is well worth supporting. It opened its doors in Januarry, set up by Musician Jim Rees.

He tells me

" Each month there are open mic slots for songwriters or instrumentalists, and a featured band all playing their own material.

The acts who have played so far include Golden Hour, and Tanglejack and later in the year we have acts like Brian Karrot, Omnichron and the Paul Edwards Band lined up.

The idea is to recognise the value of original music being made in the area."

Admission is free and the club is held every last Friday of every month at 7pm.

The venue is Hwb Lles Pontardawe (Pontardawe Well-being Hub) which is a focal point for health and creativity.

The address is

Hwb Lles Pontardawe,

Old Works Lane, SA8 4AF.

The club is normally bring-your-own-booze, but for the WIWAO night, I think John is arranging for a bar to be open."

I wonder if this has anything to do with Mr. Crow's ability to make opening a bar worthwhile?

Come along and support the club, its has a great atmosphere, a supportive place where you can try out your orginals, share and listern. It's also a cool venue, with a nice stage set up. a keyboard, and lots of places to sit and enjoy he performances.

Last month, Nigel the boiler was so hypnotized by a relaxing video in the foyer, he was found snoozing before the music started, and Scary Jane wouldn't leave the log burner.

Doors open at 7 pm and the music starts at 8 pm, so there is greeting and chatting time for everyone to catch up before the music starts. Musicians can then play in a supportive quiet environment, where everyone is welcome, and words can be heard.
