The tale of a Prussian Heroine

Soppy song about music healing broken hearts

This girl loves money.

Don't walk down a dark alley with a pretty girl

Come dance with the creatures of the night

Time travel and memory

A odd tale of love

Folk Law

Mr Crows sitting on a bus daydream, as the world goes past

Passion in a graveyard?

An Autuum song

A young buskers song

A siren's song to lure your soul

Oak Tree

by Scary Jane

C#M  A  E  G#M

I wake beneath the old oak tree

It’s dappled light shines on me

I don't know which world is mine

Since you vanished into time

You were my spirit guide

You were the guardian at my side

The only only one in life that was true

I lost myself when i lost you

(Rhythm change)

I find a stranger with hazel eyes

And I watch the seven magpies fly

I throw a pebble in the pool

And its ripples show me I’m a fool, a fool, a fool

(Original Rhythm)

I know I woke by the old oak tree

Tell me do you recognize me

I lost myself along the way

looking for a better day

Tree roots entwined in time

The woodland breath links with mine

I don’t know which way to go

but the wisdom begins to flow

Are you my spirit guide

the one standing by my side

the only one in life that is true

I found myself when I found you

(Rhythm change)

I am the stranger with the pale blue eyes

who hopes my true love survives

Pick the acorn from the dirt

plant it back into the earth

a rose.jpg

The Rose

 by Pete Crow

I know a little lady so pretty and petite

As fine as any socialite who walks the Paris Streets

And there on her decolletage a beautiful tattoo

Of a leopards head with angels wings

And roses red and blue

She walked the streets her head held high though her finery was faded

Her tattered threadbare elegance exquisitely paraded

And gentlemen along her route would pause to stare in awe

As wilted flowers on their arms

Through clenched teeth muttered whore

But a rose is a rose by any other name

A rose is a rose by any other name

And we all know the bordello from which the lady came

But a rose is a rose, by any other Name

So by the time the war was lost her bed was long since made

With many a Prussian officer eager to get laid

They fought their final battle between her well worn sheets

And left her bed no longer men

I the ultimate of defeats

But a rose is a rose.......

Well the rose has long since faded and the brier long since dead

I gaze upon a marble slab erected to be read

It tells a tale of bravery honor death and shame

But in my eyes she was a rose

By any other name

But a rose is a rose........

Eleanor Spendthrift
 by Pete Crow

Am G F E

Eleonora Spendthrift was an amiable lass

Though she squandered every penny that she had

Her innate inability in fiscal responsibility

Would lead to the insolvency of everyone concerned

Be it gin or pharmaceuticals, or the daily care of her cuticles

She found ways to divest herself of everything she owned

Every penny pound and pony, in a quest to feel less lonely

She parted with her nest egg faster than it could grow

F C F G C

Yes Eleonora Spendthrift was an amiable lass

She though that her impoverishment would magically pass

If she could find a rich man and sit upon his knee

For some strange reason she though that man was me

Imagine her disappointment, when the fly in the ointment

Proved to be the fact that I’m just as skint as she

And could not fund the manner in which she wished to be accustomed

However many times she sat upon me knee

Yes Eleonora Spendthrift was an amiable lass

She though that her impoverishment would magically pass

If she could find a rich man and perch upon his knee

For some strange reason she though that man was me

love bite.jpg

Love Bite

By Pete Crow

I cope with the abnormalities, Of my immortality

And in that I'm a fine example, To the recently un-dead

Though I can't see my reflection, And pallid is my complexion

I'm told I look quite dapper, In a cloak and opera hat

But I resent the imposition

Of the crazy terms and conditions

Of my un-solicited membership

Of the Creatures Of The Night Club

My world changed completely, When I complied, so meekly

To that pale goth girls entreaty, To kindly walk her home

And therafter to dally, In that dark and dingy alley

That led down to the cemetery, And share a kiss or two

But I resent the imposition

Of the dreadful terms and conditions

Of my un-solicited membership

Of the Creatures Of The Night Club

She gave me little lovebite, Now I can't go out in daylight

And wooden stakes and garlic, Fill my heart with dread

And a Vicar with a Crucifix, Is enough get me shitting bricks

And each sunrise I have to use, A coffin for a bed

And I really resent the imposition

Of these unfair terms and conditions

Of my un-solicited membership

Of the Creatures Of The Night Club

Turn away.jpg

Turn Away

Song by Scary Jane

Curls the leaf of Autumn's song

Bites the frost of summers end

River of feelings run along

Time has passed for us to spend

Turn away my sweet love, turn away

Turn away my sweet love, turn away

Turn away.

Dips the blood red sunset tear

Timeless mist stroke purple hills

Neon lights the darkness smears

separation is the bitter pill

Turn away my sweet love....

If we can't be as the stars we saw

I am drift wood again till the sunsets end

But if it's not solved by turning away

Sweet love come spend your days with me

Turn away my sweet love, turn away.....

pink lady 2.jpg

Lady With The Pink Hair and Tattoos

 by Pete Crow

The Last of the aging hippies who might slip out for a spliff

The psychobilliy couple with their beehive and their quiff

The band of me in trilby hats who play some wicked blues

But no lady with the pink hair and tattoos

The good time girls in leather skirts (all of that certain age)

Who'd dance upon the bones of those who prance upon the stage

The stoners and the loners who have nothing left to lose

But no lady with pink hair and tattoos

Chorus

The lady with the pink hair and tattoos

Is the kind of girl most likely to amuse

With her soft skin kissed by ink

And her hair dyed pastel pink

She's the kind of girl that I just can't refuse

The Skeleton in the Gucci dress vapid, vacant, self obsessed

The women with the ample curves confident and self possessed

The dashing sky ship captain, and his brave and loyal crew

but no lady with the pink hair and tattoos

And I thank you all for coming here to join our Jamboree

But of all the smiling faces there is one I can not see

A lady whom I've never met but has always been my muse

The lady with the pink hair and Tattoos

The lady with the pink hair and tattoos

Is the kind of girl most likely to amuse

With her soft skin kissed by ink

And her hair dyed pastel pink

She's the kind of girl that I just can't refuse

underground rebel.jpg

Underground Rebel

Song by  Scary Jane

Should have been at work today,

a year since her brother died

Rain is tapping Rhythms,

she don’t care if she gets fired

There’s people sleeping on the street

country dances to the rich man’s beat

So much greed and hunger here on planet earth

She plays guitar in the subway and she sings for hot tea cups

Gets her songs from the homeless

and the tunes from their footsteps.

So tell her it is raining one more time,

Put some money in the hat of the underground rebel

Young fingers getting colder all the time,

put some money in the hat of the underground rebel

Snow is blocking all the roads,

people freezing in their homes

Shes still in the subway singing out these songs

People walk miles for rice,

companies still get their price

So much greed and hunger here on planet earth

She plays guitar in the subway and she sings for hot tea cups

Gets her songs from the homeless

and the tunes from their footsteps.

So tell her it is raining one more time,

Put some money in the hat of the underground rebel

Young fingers getting colder all the time,

put some money in the hat of the underground rebel….

night dance 2.jpg

Night Dance

By Scary Jane

Birds of the twilight begin to sing,

damp air touches your skin

flowers of the darkness come to life

Sweet floating scents of the night

Silent wings around the grave yard

The buck moon is just a shard

Moths dance in honey sweet trails

As the dark of the night lifts it's veil

Come Dance in the dark of the night

Come dance as the the bats take flight

Come Dance as the night jar sings

It's time to open your wings

The soul born close to midnight

Sees the ghosts in the twilight

As they dance in the lilac silhouettes

Shimmering as the red sun set

Dim the lights give back the dark

Let the foxes and the night dogs bark

Come dance with no street lights

Set free the creatures of the night

Come Dance in the dark of the night

Come dance as the the bats take flight

Come Dance as the night jar sings

It's time to open your wings

Turn away from the urban glow

Come see what there is to know

When you dance away from the lights

With the strange creatures of the night.

stolen black rose 2.jpg

Stolen Black Rose

 by Pete Crow

A song half composed of a stolen black rose

Soft carmine lips and a murder of crows

A red lion rampant, a hearten repose

Two panting lovers bereft of their clothes

His metaphors mixed, infinities split

Sarcasm posing as ironic wit

The nihilist scream at the god of his dreams

Imagined reality split at the seams

And we're begging you please

Whilst you're down on your knees

Whispering words that you hope might appease

Inform the gods of the passionate pleas

Of a weary humanity eager for peace

One mans sobriety another's anxiety

Material dreams of a broken society

A wonderful future, a fool and his money

One woman's hope of milk and of honey

And the dance around the fire in the forest of the night

Naked and happy and hidden from sight

As the dog-collared banker, your inflexible friend

Espouses the judgement he claims is your end.

And we're begging you please

Whilst you're down on your knees

Whispering words that you hope might appease

Inform the gods of the passionate pleas

Of a weary humanity eager for peace

Graveyard Crow

The Kiss

 by Pete Crow

F  G   Am,    F  G  Am,  F G  C  Am,  F  G  Am

Midnight falls in waves across your shoulders

Silk floats like a mist around your heels

You lingering perfume

Masks the dankness of the room

I remember once again the way life feels

Chorus

And you know that it's going to be alright

Yes you know that it's going to be alright

You might just wake up screaming

in the middle of the night now

But you know that it's going to be alright

I feel your hot breath burn into my shoulder

And the sweet taste of your loins upon my lips

As you carve another chapter in the tail of this poor fool

With the scarlet blades that are your fingertips

Chorus

Moonlight illuminates your ample softness

In the cool dark aftermath of our embrace

As still entwined I run a rigid finger down

The porcelain perfection of your face

Chorus

Chorus and out!

windless calm 6.jpg

White Feathers

 by Scary Jane

Let this sweet tune pull you to my shore

Where your soul can rest for evermore

In the breathless calm I will sing for you

A secret so old, no soul ever knew

This song will guide you too my rocky shore

Where your soul will rest for evermore

And I'll call on the muses you soul is the fee

To have my white feathers returned to me

Come closer to my shore, let your heart desire

My enchantments will set your body on fire

Singing a song no soul has heard before

Of beauty and myths you will never recall.

This song will guide you too my rocky shore

Where your soul will rest for evermore

And I'll call on the muses you soul is the fee

To have my white feathers returned to me

My beauty will rob you of your sanity

and never again will you sail the blue sea

This haunting melody sung so bitter sweet

Will lure you to your dom with it's flaming heat

This song will guide you too my rocky shore

Where your soul will rest for evermore

And I'll call on the muses you soul is the fee

To have my white feathers returned to me

Sisters

by Pete Crow

Am    G

Why sit you sisters,

Why sit you and spin

Why spin you the yarn

of the lives of men

Why count the fibres,

you spin into thread

Three score and ten.

Why sit you sisters,

why sit at your loom

To weave the cloth of the fates of men

Why call you the weft,

that you weave into cloth

Why where and when

Why stand you sister,

to stare through the mist

As you’ve stared through the mist

Since time began

Why seek you the place,

to tie of the weave

In the dying breath of a man

And thank you three sisters

For the web that you weave

And call out in honour

the names you are called

And ask you to grant me

a few more happy years

Oh yrdd, oh vedanidi, oh skuld

pearls before swine.jpg

Pearls Before Swine

 by Pete Crow

I'm very sorry Madam, I don't know who you are

You happened to be passing as I hung onto the bar

And I wonder might I join you

Is your madness quite like mine

Shall we share our sadness

As I cast my pearls before swine

Pearls before swine, pearls before swine

All I've ever done is cast pearls before swine

Pearls before swine, pearls before swine

All I've ever done is cast pearls before swine

All if I might sit beside you and linger for a while

I'll tell you of adventures in my youth

But I would beg you don't believe a single word I say

For I'm inclined to disregard the truth

You sit there in your widows weeds, your face behind the veil

As I try to woo you, listen to my tale

I tell of years of drunkenness, whisky ale and wine

And how I came to cast

My best pearls before swine

Pearls before swine, pearls before swine

All I've ever done is cast pearls before swine

Pearls before swine, pearls before swine

All I've ever done is cast pearls before swine

And so you say you have to leave, and turn to go away

Saying that it might occur to come and see me play

I say I think that would be nice and kiss your small white handKnowing that you won't forget

'That strange man in the band'

Pearls before swine, pearls before swine

All I've ever done is cast pearls before swine

Pearls before swine, pearls before swine

All I've ever done is cast pearls before swine

blueberry breakfast 1.jpg

Blueberry Breakfast

 by Scary Jane

Slightly soaked in a red wine haze

We drank last night remembering the days

When we sang in the house where the lightening struck

and our Tangled love ran out of luck

But the music stole our hearts for a lifetime

Passing years chased away the ghosts

as we shared our songs on Facebook posts

Telling stories of the years gone by

The hearts we shared and the things we tried

And the music stole our hearts for a life time

Laughter lingers with the memories

and new songs form from the harmonies

Guitars sing on a summer's eve

Sending out my love, cause I know you're happy too

And the music stole out hearts for a life time

Sunshine in deep blue skies

Bees dance and starlings fly

Blueberry breakfast, hot sweet tea

Gone is the darkness and we are free

and the music healed our hearts for a lifetime
